New Addition!
We got another dog!!
I saw her on my weekly 'pet's that are ready for adoption' from the shelter emails. And the face just got me.
I mean, look at that face!!!
How can you not love her already?!
I had to drive to the shelter immediately and meet this sweet baby. And let me tell you, she was just as adorable as her picture and just as sweet as I thought.
The only thing I would say is that she was a lot bigger than I thought. But that was okay. She is taller than our current dog. But I figured it would be fine.
The shelter said that she plays well with other dogs and has a very mild temperament. Which means, she would hopefully clam down our boy. In theory anyway.
The drive home was great, she did very well the whole way, and I did a slow introduction. They smelled each other through the kennel. I walked her around the house, and the yard before letting him out.
But once I let them out and to fully greet each other....let's just say that they became immediate friends. They raced around the yard, played in the mini pool we have, and didn't stop playing until late into the evening where they both zonked out on the bed.
It has been two weeks now, and her little personality is coming out. She is loving and affectionate. She loves to push her whole body on you when you give her attention and scratches. If she wants to play, she will nip at the boy either on the butt, cheek, or shoulder. It is adorable.
She is super fascinated with the cat. She doesn't know what it is, and keeps sniffing. The cat is not amused at all. (which is another story for another day).
But overall the adoption and introduction has gone better than anticipated. I am so glad that I followed my instincts and got her. She has done wonders for the boy's confidence. She has taught him to play, and he has calmed down a little.
Welcome to the family Dakota.
